Don’t Get Stuck in Pants — 5 Ways to Wear Shorts in Winter

It’s just natural that you’d want to be fully clothed this winter. The bitter cold of this season just doesn’t permit flimsy or skimpy clothing for outdoor use. But we suggest you get creative. Don’t write off shorts just yet because there are actually a slew of stylish attires you can put together, with shorts as your key piece.

Allow these bloggers to show you the ropes:

1. Still get the coverage you need with a pair of fleece-lined or high-denier tights.

Personal style blogger Sissy wore her shorts, but she still looked warmed up in her textured top and coat. If you have tights thick enough to provide optimum comfort outdoors, take a chance with open-toed sandals.

2. Transition denim jeans to winter by wearing them with a chunky knitted sweater and a pair of thigh-high boots.

GabrielleGabrielle from Resort Rock Sugar

If you think denim shorts are only meant to be worn during summer, think again. Miranda Kerr wore hers with a pair of tights. Style blogger Gabrielle kept it winter-appropriate with the help of a basic slouchy sweater and a pair of drool-worthy thigh-high boots. Copy Gabrielle’s styling by tucking just a portion of the sweater in for a deliberately unkempt look.

3. Jazz up your denim shorts garb with printed sweaters and ruched boots.

Give your summer denim shorts an updated look by wearing them with printed sweaters just like what Monica did here. Add a pair of ruched or equestrian-style boots and accessorize with chunky jewelry. You can also drape an oversized coat over your shoulders if it gets too cold.

4. Try wearing shorts with a fur vest and a sweater.

Occasionally steer away from coats. Warm up in a thick sweater combined with a fur vest instead. This tandem would work well with a pair of shorts. Like Nikita, you can also wear a pair of tights to crank up the warm factor of your ensemble.

5. Still not over the skort trend? Wear it with a cable-knitted sweater and a button-down collared shirt.

PriscaPrisca from Mochaccinoland

Prisca teamed up her tartan skorts with a cute sweater. Wear a white button-down shirt underneath, and make sure the collars are peeking out from under it.

We also love the versatility of the following shorts. They are great for winter but can easily mesh into your wardrobe for the rest of the year:
