Rosie Huntington-Whiteley arrived at Nice Airport in France the other day wearing an outfit that breaks one of fashion’s foremost rules.

Rosie wore black with brown. She dared to pair a camel-colored sweater with black cropped pants and, amazingly, still looked fabulous with a capital F. It’s kind of unfair, isn’t it?

Rosie completed her Nice Airport outfit with even more brown accessories, including a bone-hued Maison Michel “Andre” trilby hat, a camel Balmain x Aurelie Bidermann “Pierre” bag, and tan Aperlai slingback pumps.

Rosie’s fashion-rule-breaking pants are the “Ivo” corduroy pants from one of her favorite labels, Étoile Isabel Marant.

We think what makes these pants go so well with brown is how their black color is semifaded. They’ve got a grayish tone and not ‘black black’, making them easier to pair with other neutrals.

Have you tried wearing black with brown?
