Amanda Seyfried’s Givenchy dress already made us do a double take, so we can say this Balmain dress we spotted on Kate Hudson made us do a quadruple take. Yes, it’s a dress made of denim that was cut, designed, and treated as if it were made of silk, satin, or some much more expensive fabric. Balmain wove denim strips, laced them with metal chains, and quilted with sparkling beads for a look that’s 100% photo-op-ready and red-carpet-worthy.

Of course, it’s not enough that we describe the dress — you have got to see its details up close:

Breathtaking, isn’t it? This dress isn’t an article of clothing anymore; it’s a work of art. We hope this starts a trend among designers, so we get to see more dressed-up denim on the red carpet.

Since our last batch of “I can’t believe it’s denim” dresses, we were able to find four more to add to the collection. It’s amazing how denim can be designed in many ways.
