Twilight star Ashley Greene was out getting some fro-yo for herself the other day, wearing an outfit which can be described as denim on denim.
Ashley Greene followed the number one rule of doing denim on denim
One question instantly popped into my mind upon seeing these pictures: “What is going on here?”
I’m actually a fan of wearing double denim and denim-on-denim outfits, provided that they’re done properly. Miss Ashley Greene seems to have followed the number one rule of doing denim on denim (which is to wear varying denim colors, weights, and washes), but they’re not varied enough to actually be a flattering look on the actress.
Ashley Greene heads to a nearby Pinkberry to get herself a cold treat in Studio City, California, on October 1, 2010
Both the shirt and the skirt are from the lighter spectrum of denim in terms of weight, color, and wash, and those Mary Jane pumps are definitely not helping to break up the monotony of all that blue. So, how can we turn Ashley Greene’s denim-on-denim outfit from a miss to a hit?
Here are three outfit proposals that don’t veer far from Ashley Greene’s denim shirt and denim skirt combo but would be what I consider major upgrades.
- Outfit 1: Elizabeth and James Pleated Pocket Chambray Cohen Shirt, $225.00; Hurley 72 YC Denim Skirt, $22.80
- Outfit 2: Current/Elliott Perfect Shirt in Pale Gray, $99.00; Citizens of Humanity Collin High Rise Skirt, $95.20
- Outfit 3: Blank Denim Denim Boyfriend Shirt, $78.00; Prps Denim Skirt, $429.00
I purposefully chose plain denim shirts with more stylized denim skirts for Ashley Greene as these would accentuate and draw more attention to her shapely legs.
Now, can someone please tell her not to tie the ends of her shirt in a knot like that? She could also actually wear shoes in a different color so that not everything is blue.
