How was your holiday? We’re hoping that all of you had a fantastic Christmas and a joyous New Year!

While we were all busy with the festivities, a new denim trend sneakily crept past us over the holiday season. Flare jeans and wide-leg jeans have been forecasted to be a huge trend this year, with voluminous 70s silhouettes leading the pack!

Could 2011 be the year when we’ll see the mighty skinny jeans fall? Will this be the end of the skinny jeans’ long and extended reign? On a more personal level, will you be trading your skinny jeans for this hot new trend?

Whether you’re a fan of flares/wide legs or not, consider this as a chance to build on your denim collection and your wardrobe as a whole. Fashion is but a cycle after all, and things that are new will be old and things that were once old will be new again.

Make room for this roomier new denim trend in your closet, and stock up on the following flare and wide-leg jeans from Nordstrom and Shopbop:

Wide leg/trouser jeans

Even though fashion gurus say that flares and wide-legged jeans look good on tall and lean frames, petite ol’ me can’t wait to try this trend out. I practically pledge allegiance to straight-leg and skinny jeans, but even I think that it’s time for a change in our silhouettes!

What do you think of this new trend for 2011?
