A few years ago, most of us wouldn’t be caught dead wearing track shorts outside the gym. They would double as boxer shorts but never as shorts that can be worn for, say, errands, or a date. Who would want to wear these skimpy shorts out on a date anyway, right?

But a new era has dawned upon us. Now, track shorts are worn for just about everything and everywhere. Wear them for shopping or a date with your boyfriend. Casual just got comfier!

So, how exactly are you going to style track shorts without looking like you jumped out of the gym and forgot to put on your pants? We are turning to the bloggers below for some inspiration.

1. Track shorts with a comfy-looking cardigan

Stylish blogger Fizz paired her printed track shorts with a thick cardigan. It’s not just a cardigan though. It has rips and tassels at the hem, so the ensemble became rad in a jiffy. She finished the look with boots and a fedora hat for a relaxed vibe.

Why this works: The cardigan balances the short pieces in this ensemble. The accessories, such as the boots and the hat, also give the entire getup a dressier, not-just-for-the-gym appeal.

2. A simple sweater can give your shorts more style

You really don’t have to go the extra mile. Just the simple route is enough. Yara, whose blog This Chick’s Got Style is no longer available online, chose to wear her track shorts with a striped sweater. It resulted in a classy outfit, especially with those pumps and bag.

Why this works: Sweaters pretty much go with everything – jeans, skirts, and what have you. They should go with your track shorts as well. If you have something with a nautical print, jump on the chance to wear it with your shorts.

3. Try the print-on-print look

Gorgeous Leticia, whose blog Blog da Lê is no longer available online, sure knows how to mix her prints. She chose to wear her feline-printed track shorts with nautical print! It’s an unlikely combination, but it actually worked.

Why this works: Leticia chose neutral colors to wear with her shorts. That is why the ensemble is still cohesive. The print of the shorts and the print of the top are dulled by the solid colors of her shoes, jacket, and bag.

4. Give your shorts a more formal vibe with blazers

You can give your track shorts extra glam with a structured blazer. Something like what Sab, whose blog SabFashiobLab is no longer available online, wore is what I have in mind. With a pair of heels, you can even wear this outfit for work.

Why this works: The blazer gives it more definition and class, so even if you wear track shorts, it won’t look very kitschy and garish.

5. Wear them with a denim button-down top

Mayita paired her black track shorts with a denim button-down top. Denim looks are so hot during summer, and what better way to spice up your pair of track shorts than to team them up with denim? Give it a little more glam with ankle-strap sandals and some silver accessories.

Why this works: Denim is an all-around summer wardrobe solution. It goes pretty much with anything.
