In a 2008 interview with Health Magazine, the Supercross actress discussed the unrealistic body standards in the entertainment industry, noting that despite being a size 2, she’s considered curvy.

It’s weird: In our business, I’m a size 2 and considered curvy…ou can look up old episodes of my show and see when I was being far too friendly with the craft-services table. Because I’m 5’4″ and athletically built, if I gain five pounds it looks like a lot.

Advocating for Body Positivity and Empowerment

During an appearance on the “Today” show in 2014, Sophia Bush spoke candidly about body image and empowering women. She discussed her involvement with the charity “I Am That Girl,” which aims to help girls feel confident and beautiful in their own bodies.

“I’ve spent so much time talking to women about, ‘Hey, I may be on TV and I may be photographed for magazines, but I don’t think I’m perfect. I don’t wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and go, ‘Hey, I’m amazing!’ That’s not how it is,” Bush said. I’m a woman, and it’s a struggle for all of us.’

“And it took me until this point in my life at 31 to say, ‘Hey, yeah I’m going to embrace my body and own it for me, not anyone else. And I’m curvy. I’m not some rail-thin, 6-foot-tall runway model who was just born that way. I was born like this. And that’s A-OK.’ And the conversations that have sort of come out of that, the conversations about feeling empowered in our skin rather than comparing ourselves to other women have been a really great byproduct actually of that whole shoot.”

Personal Life and Relationships

Sophia Bush was born on July 8, 1982, in Pasadena, California, and was briefly married to Chad Michael Murray, an American actor, from 2005 to 2006. They met on the set of “One Tree Hill” and started dating in 2003.

Sophia Bush discussed her divorce with Dax Shepard during an Armchair Expert podcast episode.

“The reason why I don’t talk about it, A. is because everyone’s been 21 and stupid,” she began, “but if you’re in our job, for some reason, people want to talk to you about like, when you’re fully-fledged adults who’ve done really amazing s—t with your lives, they want to talk to you about the dumb thing you did in college basically, which doesn’t make sense to me, ’cause like, in any other realm, if a CEO is having a meeting, no one’s gonna ask about the time they went to a kegger in college.”

“What’s complex about this issue for me is the person I was 21 and stupid with is also an actor,” she said.

“And I got asked about this on a radio show back in the summer, and I talked about my experience. I don’t speak my ex’s name, I’m not talking about anybody else’s experience but my own, and what it was blown up into, and what it was made into … It was made into this story that everybody serviced for his opinion, and not for mine. All I’m doing is talking about my experience.”

Her second marriage was to Grant Hughes. After 13 months of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in August 2023. They had a prenuptial agreement, and at the time of their divorce, there were disagreements about certain financial aspects, including a $300,000 investment decision.

Despite rumors to the contrary, she is not related to George Walker Bush, the 43rd President of the United States.
