There was a time when fashion mavens would cringe at the idea of wearing two denim pieces in one outfit. The horror! These days though, wearing denim jeans and one other denim piece seems like a totally acceptable idea.
The double denim trick can be easy to pull off. Actress Kelly Brook showed us one way of doing it right.
Kelly Brook and fiance David McIntosh go grocery shopping at Whole Foods Market after shopping at Fred Segal boutique in Los Angeles on April 4, 2014
The 34-year old stepped out for a trip to Whole Foods Market clad in a pair of cropped skinny jeans and the Rails Harper Denim button down shirt. What made this look just right is the shade of blue denim shirt Kelly chose. It’s not exactly the same as the jeans but close enough to make the look cohesive. The plaid print detail on the shirt ensured that the look isn’t excessively denim.
The silhouette also works. The shirt falls over the hips and isn’t too baggy that it looks sloppy. Moreover, the jeans fit Kelly like a glove. Cropped skinny jeans work great when you are trying out the double denim look because unlike their loose counterparts, they provide a smaller silhouette.
Because denim on denim can be a tad overwhelming, the TV presenter did a good job in keeping the styling simple. The classic pair of red-brown booties and the chain-strapped crossbody bag from Chanel is all the styling this look needs.
Sans the excessive accessorizing, this outfit boasts of a clean and summery vibe, great for those warm and sunny days. Try Kelly’s idea of a double denim outfit. Here are some great cropped skinny jeans you need to pull off a similar look:
