I thought nothing could be as cumbersome as wearing circulation-hampering skinny jeans. Until leather pants appeared. I’m pretty sure there must be some lining that will make leather pants comfortable to wear, but I wondered how it will be styled without the wearer looking like she/he has been watching too much biker movies. I wondered if it rips easily if you snag it on a protruding wire or branch. I wondered how it can be washed without wrinkling it.
Ashley Greene arrives at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with boyfriend Paul Khoury on November 30, 2014 / Victoria Beckham arriving at JFK International Airport for Mercedes-Benz IMG New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 on February 13, 2009 / Naomi Watts out and about in New York City wearing a large black hat, beige cashmere coat, leather pants, high heel shoes and carrying two Givenchy bags on October 20, 2014 / Kim Kardashian arrives at Casa Vega Restaurant in Studio City while filming scenes for ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ on April 5, 2013
These things didn’t seem to dampen the appeal of leather (or leather-like) pants to some bloggers. If you are wondering how to incorporate them in your daily ensembles, check out the looks of the following bloggers:
1. Agata from Laughing in the Purple Rain
Wear your leather pants with a graphic tee, boots, and a coat. What better way to channel your inner rock star than to don a Guns ‘n Roses tee and pair it with leather pants and a leather coat? Punctuate the look with some ankle-high or thigh-high boots, round sunnies, and a beanie, and you are good to go.
2. Micah from Raww
There’s no way your outfit will resemble a biker’s if you pair up your leather pants with a classy coat. Micah’s laminated coat has a vivid cobalt blue color that offsets the toughness of the leather pants. A punch of color never hurts an outfit.
3. Lucy from Lovely by Lucy
Streetwear lovers would be more than happy to copy Lucy’s look, I bet. Baggy leather pants work well with minimalist sweaters like Lucy’s. Keep it casual and low-key with a pair of canvas loafers and a baseball cap.
4. Jessica from Ms. Vintage Virgin
Jessica took inspiration from Moschino and injected a preppy plaid coat into her outfit. Plaid and leather? Jessica made this combination look really cute! Throw in a statement tee and a pair of pumps for a statement look.
5. Wows from With or Without Shoes
Don’t just rock black leather pants. Go for the colored ones as well, especially come spring and summer. But while the weather is still cold, wear it with a fuzzy sweater, boots, and a beanie for an effortless look.
The above ensembles are easy to copy if you have the right leather pants to wear. Shopbop has plenty of them:
